The Heathman Hotel and Trellis restaurant have reopened after an unexpected closure in May. The renovation that the guest rooms and Trellis restaurant underwent during the temporary closure will be showcased during the reopening.

“Despite the difficulties encountered due to our unexpected closure in May,” said Belinda Jensen, director of sales and marketing at The Heathman Hotel, “we are thrilled to be able to continue to fulfill our commitment to our staff, guests, and community members.  The renovations will offer an even more sophisticated space coupled with the top-notch services that our guests and patrons have come to expect from The Heathman Hotel.”

On May 25, The Heathman Hotel experienced a catastrophic water main break causing major damage to the existing property and forcing the hotel to close for over two months. A major renovation and redesign during those two months enabled the hotel to expand the fitness center, add new meeting space for luncheons and corporate functions and an intimate dining room with an adjoining larger event space. The meeting space and new fitness center will be available for use by hotel guests and local patrons at the end of August. A library for receptions and guests use to ‘get away’ has also been added. Because of the new features, The Heathman Hotel made the decision not to reopen the in-house Penterra Spa.

The renovation process was completed with assistance from the original designers, contractors and architects, the  to complete these hotel and restaurant renovations in an effort to support local business.  The hotel also kept the majority of employees on payroll during this closure.
