Signature Drink: The Bergonian

Celebrating its 90th anniversary this summer, Seattle’s Mayflower Park Hotel started life as the Bergonian Hotel on July 16, 1927, and has been in continuous operation ever since. The hotel was named after original owner Stephen Berg and his love of The Oregonian newspaper. In salute to its 90 years of service and with a nod to its past, Mayflower Park created The Bergonian cocktail. Raise a glass to honor an icon in Seattle’s hospitality history.

Taking Honey & Themes to the Max

Sweet can mean two things: tastes great or stellar experience. There is a lot of sweetness in the U.S. Mountain West and western Canada, but I’ll limit this to talking about the new “Buzzed at Bernardus” experiences at Bernardus Lodge & Spa in Carmel Valley, California.

Signature Drink: Dale Cooper

In the 1990s, Twin Peaks was one of the most talked-about television series. Set in the fictional town of Twin Peaks, Washington, many of the series’ exterior shots were filmed in the very real and very charming communities of Snoqualmie, North Bend and Fall City. As a toast to the upcoming rebirth of the series on Showtime, we suggest trying Salish Lodge & Spa’s Dale Cooper, named for the show’s character played by Washington native Kyle MacLachlan.

Now through December, if you order its seasonal Apple Cider Car at The Lobby Bar of Pan Pacific Hotel Seattle, you’ll contribute to the hotel’s Cocktail for a Cause program.

Network and Create Craft Cocktails at coup d'etat

This past weekend, I had the privilege of attending a mixology class at coup d’etat in Uptown Minneapolis. The class was held in one of their semi-private dining areas, where 18 of us had the pleasure of creating five signature cocktails with our mixologist Alex.
