There will be some new faces at the 14th annual Cascadia Educational Conference. A joint venture of the Washington and Oregon chapters of Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the 2016 conference will, for the first time in its history, officially include the British Columbia chapter of MPI. The conference is taking place March 13 to 15 at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon, located approximately 20 miles southwest of Bend, Oregon.

This year’s fete will be held on February 6 at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle and will transport guests to a grand Venetian Masquerade Ball. Gala chair is René Neidhart, general manager of the Renaissance Seattle Hotel.

Engaging conference attendees sometimes requires out-of-the-box thinking—or “out-of-this-world” thinking if you’re Visit Spokane in Eastern Washington. August 19-23, the city welcomed approximately 5,000 science fiction enthusiasts to Sasquan—the 73rd World Science Fiction Convention. To encourage attendees to explore Spokane, the convention and visitors bureau created Sasquantest—a photo contest facilitated through Twitter and Instagram.

The JDRF Northwest Chapter has been partnering with Sheraton Seattle Hotel for more than 20 years to produce the annual Gingerbread Village fundraiser event. Architects and pastry chefs work side by side in confection construction to raise funds for type 1 diabetes research. By the end of the elaborate display’s six-week run in the lobby of Sheraton Seattle, the event will have raised upward of $50,000 for the local JDRF.
Anyone who has attended a FAM trip knows that the events are filled with lots of running around from venue to venue and destination hot spot to hot spot. But a recent Vancouver, BC FAM trip organized by the team at Tourism Vancouver really got a group of seven Chicago-based clients running. In fact, they ran the lululemon SeaWheeze Half Marathon.
