Bethany Hastings was recently hired as director of sales for Plano Centre in Texas.

1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role as director of sales for Plano Centre?

I am really looking forward to working for the City of Plano; it is such an amazing community with so much to offer! Joining the Plano Centre team allows me to build upon my 13-plus years of hotel experience, and I am excited for the opportunity to grow personally and professionally and share the $2.8 million renovation with new and existing customers.

2. How do you think past experiences have prepared you for this role?

I believe that my past experience in a convention hotel and the insights gained from opening a hotel will help guide me as a leader as we relaunch Plano Centre.

3. How did you get into the industry?

I got into the hospitality industry by accident as many people do! My first hotel job was what I thought would just be an interim job, but found myself drawn in by the excitement of this ever-changing industry as well as the customers and the opportunity to make their experiences extra special.

4. What are you hoping to achieve in your new role?

I hope to make a positive impact on the incremental revenue as we relaunch Plano Centre. Creating awareness about the Plano Centre is also very important to me as I want potential customers to think about us as their go-to venue, not only for community events, but also for corporate and association meetings and trade shows.

5. What do you enjoy most about the industry?

I really enjoy the people that I meet and the connections that I make every day. Longstanding friendships and partnerships have been formed with industry colleagues and clients throughout my years in this industry, and for that I am truly grateful.

The soon-to-open Omni Frisco Hotel in Dallas has announced the names of its new director of operations, director of finance, director of sales and marketing, director of engineering, director of human resources and neighborhood services general manager.

The hotel will open in July 2017. All of the announced positions will report to Jeff Smith, hotel general manager.

 

As I write this, I am sitting in the Hilton Anchorage getting ready to head out for a day of tours and adventures with a group of about 30 event planners. About two weeks ago, I was in Vancouver, BC with a group of three other editors/writers doing the same thing in that city. Yeah. I know. I have a pretty fabulous job. And so, I wanted to give a shout out to the CVBs who plan these trips and help me get better acquainted to everything our region has to offer so that I can, in turn, introduce you to new places and things to do when you’re planning a meeting or event.
