Two of Vancouver's hottest hotels have opened under the roof the new urban resort, Parq Vancouver. Reservations began in late October for both hotels, JW Marriott Parq Vancouver and the DOUGLAS, an Autograph Collection Hotel.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Vancouver's vibrant entertainment district, these premiere destination hotels blend luxury and functionality within one complex. With 11 private gaming salons, guests can hang with lady luck in the world-class casino spanning two floors and 72,000 square feet and enjoy the picturesque British Columbia coastline and from the 30,000 square-foot rooftop park. Eight chef-driven restaurants and lounges from restaurant developers and James Beard Award nominees Elizabeth Blau and her Canadian husband, Chef Kim Canteenwalla provide an unforgettable experience that will stay with visitors long after they have departed. Parq Vancouver's 60,000 square feet of meeting and event space is easily accessed from both hotels. Boasting 13 boardrooms and ballrooms, including the biggest hotel ballroom in Vancouver, these multipurpose areas are the perfect event locations for business or pleasure.

The DOUGLAS, an Autograph Collection Hotel

Paying tribute to the Douglas firs that built Vancouver's thriving economy, the DOUGLAS, an Autograph Collection Hotel, blends elegance with nature. Guests are greeted by a wall of living greens as they enter the building, and the front desk is a 25-foot replica Douglas fir encased in glass. The 188 rooms and suites are thoughtfully decorated with warm woods and task lighting and enhanced with the latest technology to satisfy every need of the modern traveler. The hotel’s exquisitely curated collection of social spaces includes the lavishly furnished D/6 Bar & Lounge that leads out onto an elevated sixth-floor park featuring more than 200 native pines and 15,000 local plants.

The DOUGLAS pairs original touch points from Rob Wells of creative agency Sixteenfifty with thoughtful interiors by Vincent Celano of Celano Design Studio. The DOUGLAS joins the diverse portfolio of more than 100 Autograph Collection Hotels around the world - all independent, one-of-a-kind hotels. In-room amenities include purely natural Aesop products; detoxifying charcoal water; Douglas fir-infused gin crafted by a nearby distillery; and locally sourced refreshments.

JW Marriott Parq Vancouver

The JW Marriott Parq Vancouver delivers a sophisticated décor that invites guests to discover their sense of play. Guests are able to access to world-class gaming and dining areas seamlessly, while still enjoying residential-style comforts including illy espresso makers and internet-connected TVs. 281 expertly designed rooms and 48 luxury suites aim to pamper guests and create an energizing space. Designed by award-winning, Toronto based Studio Munge, the hotel delivers a personalized stay with intuitive service and enriching amenities.

"British Columbia is an untapped market for JW Marriott, making Vancouver the ideal setting to introduce this extraordinary luxury brand to the region," said Mitzi Gaskins, global brand leader for JW Marriott & The Luxury Collection. "Vancouver's reputation as a center of health, sports and recreation, as well as a thriving cultural scene, makes it a perfect fit for our guests and we look forward to welcoming travelers and locals alike through our doors this fall."

JW Marriott's 17th-floor spa features holistic treatments in a calming health-focused environment. The Spa by JW delivers an array of personalized signature treatments and also features a state-of-the-art fitness centre where specialized staff will personalize fitness programs. Guests can also enjoy al fresco yoga surrounded by views of the park, mountains, and ocean or take advantage or the running and biking trails nearby.

Experiencing a good cup of coffee in the Northwest is as much a rite of passage as sampling deep-dish pizza in Chicago, po’ boys in New Orleans or Philadelphia cheese steaks in —well, you know. So lucky for you, when you’re holding a meeting in the Olympia area, you and your delegates can take a break along the South Sound Coffee Trail. The self-guided tour was launched last November and introduces you and your group to all things craft coffee in the South Sound.
