The Oregon Tourism Commission (Travel Oregon) recently announced the recipients of the 2013 Travel and Tourism Industry Achievement Awards at the 2014 Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Sunriver, Ore. The annual awards event recognizes and honors individuals and organizations that demonstrate dedication and outstanding performance in the Oregon tourism and hospitality industry.

Tim Wood was honored with the Governor’s Tourism Award, the most prized award in the Oregon tourism and hospitality industry. Wood was recognized for his dedication and work in positioning Oregon as a national leader in natural resource stewardship, cultural resource stewardship and interpretation.

“It’s an honor to recognize Tim for his years of service,” said Todd Davidson, CEO of Travel Oregon. “His affinity for the natural wonders of Oregon and the penchant to partner with Travel Oregon and bike proponents throughout the state led to the creation of the only Scenic Bikeways program in the country and an abundance of exceptional State Park opportunities that Oregonians and visitors can enjoy.”

Other award-winners include Frank Moore, conservationist and builder of the Steamboat Inn, and John Waller, inspirational filmmaker, with the Gene Leo Memorial Award for their dedication and contribution to tourism-related activity focused on Oregon’s natural beauty and outdoor recreation.

The Oregon Travel and Tourism Industry Exceptional Partnership Award was awarded to Carolyn Hill, CEO of Travel Southern Oregon, and the Oregon Sustainable Tourism Leadership Award was given to Michelle and Deat Duarte, founders of WildSpring Guest Habitat.
