Bibliophiles Rejoice!

By M+E Staff

When Elliott Bay Book Company moved from its long-time digs in Pioneer Square three years ago, I was heartbroken. Although the bookstore moved to Capitol Hill, I was completely in love with the Pioneer Square location, from its labyrinth of book stacks to its musty smell and creaky wood floors. For me, it was quintessential Seattle: Quirky, rich with history, unpretentious.

So imagine how thrilled I was to discover that the building is being reinvented into an event space. YES! The venue can accommodate 400 for a standing reception or 250 for a seated dinner. It’s already played host to Northwest Meetings + Events’ sister magazine Seattle Bride’s Best Of Awards party this past June and I have it on good authority that the party was a huge hit.

If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, the venue officially celebrates its grand opening this Thursday, August 1 from 5-9 p.m. at Pioneer Square’s Alleypalooza-a one-night exploration of Seattle’s hidden alleyways, complete with music, food and art. Check it out for yourself!
