• Emerging Sales Professionals’ Sixth Symposium Scheduled in Bellevue in May

Mark your calendars: The Emerging Sales Professionals Association will host its sixth professional development symposium for sales professionals of publicly owned or operated convention and meeting venues on May 3, 2017, at the Meydenbauer Convention Center in Bellevue, Wash. The symposium, called ESP6, will co-locate with the International Association of Venue Managers Region IV Conference. Northwest Meetings + Events magazine is a presenting sponsor for ESP6; other event sponsors include GES, Smart City Networks, Edlen Electrical, Travel Portland, Tacoma Convention Center, Visit Bellevue and Visit Seattle.

What’s Ethics Got to Do with It? Selling and Marketing With Reputations in Mind

Business ethics, which are generally under scrutiny, are a greater issue for everyone in today’s business climate. Issues concerning, for example, payment of commissions, relationships with vendors, meeting points or rewards, and other types of non-monetary gifts or items of value, have raised and continue to raise concerns. In this interactive session, we will, using scenarios, discuss the issues and topics that can result in gray areas as they relate to industry professionalism and ethics and determine what steps marketing and sales professionals and their employers, and clients need to take.

Portland International Airport (PDX) was famously known for its teal, geometrically patterned carpet, which was sadly removed back in 2015. But now, PDX will be known for its recently completed, unique timber ceiling. ZGF Architects worked closely with PDX for 50 years and designed this transformation to last another half century. The Portland airport is becoming one of the first to be seismic-resilient and produce low carbon emissions, thanks to the 9 acres of native Pacific Northwest hardwood used in building the terminal’s ceiling.
