The 2018 Cascadia Educational Conference was held in Reno, Nevada, this past March and Northwest Meetings + Events was proud to be a sponsor. Held at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino, the conference schedule was filled to the brim with networking, entertaining speakers, smart ideas and, of course, poker!
Meeting Professionals International Washington State Chapter (MPIWSC) held its annual auction on Dec. 7, 2017, at Novelty Hill Januik Winery in Woodinville, Washington. The auction wa s a fundraiser for the MPIWSC Educational Fund.
The industry came together at The Foundry by Herban Feast on Oct. 19, 2017, for our Best of 2017 readers’ choice awards. In addition to great music and food, beer tastings, and candid photo booth snapshots, Northwest Meetings + Events raised approximately $900 for the SEARCH Foundation through a silent auction. The evening was capped off with our awards ceremony presided over by emcee Ron Hippe.
This past May, the Emerging Sales Professionals Association (ESPA)—a Washington state nonprofit corporation that provides professional development training for sales staff from publicly owned convention and meeting venues—held its sixth Emerging Sales Professionals Symposium, ESP6, at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, Washington. ESPA members include sales professionals at all levels from convention and meeting venues in Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. The association organizes educational programs each fall and spring.
Northwest Meetings + Events was proud to sponsor the 2017 Cascadia Educational Conference this year. The event took place at Wildhorse Resort & Casino in Pendleton, Oregon, and drew approximately 220 industry leaders. The popular conference brought together members of the Meeting Professionals International chapters of Oregon, Washington state and British Columbia, and featured locally inspired experiences like a hoe-down themed gala and an opening prayer by members of the Confederated Tribes of Umatilla.
Microsoft recently produced Solutions5, the seventh annual collaborative conference bringing together five premier food service associations: Association of Correctional Food Service Affiliation, Association for Healthcare Foodservice, Foodservice Consultants Society International, National Association of College Auxiliary Services and the Society for Hospitality & Foodservice Management.

May has been FOOD BOWL month in Los Angeles, a 31-day festival of curated events produced by the Los Angeles Times to celebrate the city’s dynamic and diverse culinary scene and bring awareness to food waste and hunger through programs with chefs and food-justice activists.
