When you think about face painting, what comes to mind? Those sweet little butterfly designs you see on the cheek of every 5-year-old at the local county fair? Well, Seattle artist Dutch Bihary is not your typical monarch-embellishing face painter.

The folks at Oregon-based Rogue Ales & Spirits have capitalized on a hot condiment hailed by hipsters and food aficionados alike, introducing the Rogue Sriracha Hot Stout Beer, brewed with that curious condiment that some call “rooster sauce,” thanks to the rooster emblazoned on the bottle. Sriracha is actually just a magic mix of hot sauce, distilled vinegar, garlic, sugar and salt.
Named for Three Sisters’ south mountain, this drink by Sunriver Resort makes us feel downright charitable.
—2 cucumber slices
—1 grapefruit slice
—1 sugar cube
—1.5 oz. Hendrick’s gin
—4 oz. fresh grapefruit juice
—2 oz. soda water
1. Muddle the cucumber slices, grapefruit slice, sugar cube and a splash of soda in a pint glass.
2. Fill with ice.
3. Add the gin and grapefruit juice.
4. Shake well and pour into a collins glass.
