Portland will be home to the first Ritz-Carlton in the Pacific Northwest. Developer BPM Real Estate Group is bringing the brand to the city, with an anticipated opening in early 2023. Plans call for a 35-story tower with 251 hotel rooms and 138 residential units, including eight penthouses.

The mixed-use tower will also feature high-end office space and retail space and a ground-level food hall. The site is a few blocks from Pioneer Courthouse Square and Pioneer Place. It’s also within walking distance of the central business district and Pearl District.

Once open, The Ritz-Carlton, Portland will feature exclusive entrances for hotel guests and residence owners, along with high-end amenities, including a fitness center, full-service spa and swimming pool on the 19th floor, and multiple food and beverage venues. It is also slated to have more than 13,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

According to a survey commissioned by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), frequent travelers feel safer when hotels adhere to AHLA's Stay Safe guidelines, which detail cleaning protocols for hotels during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through responses to bi-weekly surveys, Global Business Travel Association members have indicated that domestic busines travel is ramping up after months of struggle.

Remote working has become mainstream with the continued presence of COVID-19. While many people have welcomed the new normal of working from home, others miss the separation of spaces, as many corporate offices have remained closed since March. Without the daily obligation to go into the office, professionals have the ability to travel more freely. Hotels across the country are creating “work from hotel” deals–a play on “work from home”–so people can explore new places while still fitting in their 9 to 5.
