Hyatt Regency Lake Washington at Seattle’s Southport is now open for business. The only waterfront hotel within 10 miles of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the 12-story, 347-room hotel is located on the southeastern shore of Lake Washington in Renton, Washington. The hotel features 60,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. The rooms and event space were designed with feng shui principles in mind and feature Lake Washington, Cascade Mountain, Mt. Rainier and Seattle skyline views.

Puzzle Break—a live-action, interactive escape-room adventure—is debuting its newest location in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood this month. Spanning more than 6,000 square feet, the new location will be one of the largest of its kind worldwide and will feature “Hollywood-caliber immersive set design, world-class puzzles and the latest-and-greatest technological wizardry.”
Hotel Indigo Denver is set to open in Denver’s Union Station neighborhood in mid-January of 2017. It will be located at 1801 Wewatta Street and will have 180 guest rooms and 1,188 square feet of meeting and event space.
Finding a venue is one of the first decisions a meeting planner makes. Its size and location can make a big impact on meeting attendance. The Sheraton Tysons Hotel—managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts—located outside of Washington, DC, is helping planners choose by offering a package for planners booking through 2020.
Hilton Portland is set to undergo a huge transformation that is scheduled to be complete in spring 2017. Renovations will include updates to the guest rooms and lobby, a new restaurant and bar, and meeting space.
The 782-room hotel, located in the heart of downtown Portland, is in the early stages of its renovation. They will first update their existing 60,000 square feet of meeting space, and relocating the fitness room. They've also added a 5,500-square-foot ballroom and additional breakout space.
With 40 acres of land, 400 guest rooms, and 180 luxury suites, Scottsdale Plaza Resort has built a solid reputation. Solidifying this reputation is a renovation to their standard rooms.
The changes include new bathtubs, larger closet and vanity areas, granite counters and more.
“In less than six months we have gone from a ranking of 61 on Trip Advisor to 16, so clearly the renovations to our standard rooms contributed to that,” says Sheryl Bettencourt, director of marketing for the resort.
Thomas J.W. Voss has just been appointed managing director of the 1,048-room-Fairmont Austin, opening the summer of next year. He will be responsible for overall operations, performance and strategic direction for the newest and largest Fairmont hotel in the U.S.
With more than 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Voss has held a number of positions, including executive roles with Starwood Hotels.
