As I write this, I am sitting in the Hilton Anchorage getting ready to head out for a day of tours and adventures with a group of about 30 event planners. About two weeks ago, I was in Vancouver, BC with a group of three other editors/writers doing the same thing in that city. Yeah. I know. I have a pretty fabulous job. And so, I wanted to give a shout out to the CVBs who plan these trips and help me get better acquainted to everything our region has to offer so that I can, in turn, introduce you to new places and things to do when you’re planning a meeting or event.

Vancouver Convention Centre Recognized for its Sustainability Efforts

The Convention Industry Council’s Accepted Practices Exchange (APEX) and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) have awarded its Level 4 certification—the highest possible accreditation—to the Vancouver Convention Centre. Venues that demonstrate high standards for environmentally sustainable meetings, trade shows and conferences are awarded Level 4 certification. Vancouver Convention Centre’s commitment to environmental sustainability helped it become the first facility in Canada to receive this level of certification. 

Vancouver, BC is No. 1!

According to Watkins Research Group’s biennial Meeting and Convention Planners Survey, out of 40 North American cities, Vancouver, B.C. is the top convention city in Canada and the second in North America!

Watkins’ rankings are based on responses from nearly 900 industry planners and decision makers from around the world. In the survey, Vancouver was:
