This past May, the Emerging Sales Professionals Association (ESPA)—a Washington state nonprofit corporation that provides professional development training for sales staff from publicly owned convention and meeting venues—held its sixth Emerging Sales Professionals Symposium, ESP6, at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, Washington. ESPA members include sales professionals at all levels from convention and meeting venues in Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. The association organizes educational programs each fall and spring.
Home to vaudeville and film from 1924 to the present, The Capitol Theater, located in Olympia, Washington, has been entertaining the community with music, movies and shows for the past 94 years. The original owners, E.A. Zabel and William Wilson, first opened the theater’s doors to a crowd of 1,000, and its popularity is still going strong today.

Mount Hood, Schweitzer, Whistler, Denali—the Northwest does not want for spectacular mountain destinations. Not only do they provide a stunning setting in which to live, work and play, they also serve as a gorgeous backdrop for meetings and events. While these locales are notable winter playgrounds for snowshoeing, skiing, snowboarding, tubing, ice skating, sleigh riding and other activities, they are also outstanding options for groups in the warm summer months. Here are a few Northwest resorts that sit at the foot or at the top of some of our region’s favorite peaks.
The dual-branded Aloft and Element Hotel Development in Redmond, Wash., was declared open by Minneapolis-based CSM Corporation. The two hotels are located near the Microsoft Corporation's world headquarters as well as Google, Nintendo, Boeing and Expedia. The hotels share one building and multiple amenities.
“I think one frequently overlooked item is shade. Whether that means sunshades, umbrellas or tents, you can’t underestimate the need for protection from the sun. People often get so excited for the spring/summer season in the Pacific Northwest that they can overlook how hot it gets in direct sunlight. On those extra-steamy days, it even can be necessary to place a couple of misters here and there for extra relief.

1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role?
Hyatt Regency Lake Washington at Seattle’s Southport is now open for business. The only waterfront hotel within 10 miles of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the 12-story, 347-room hotel is located on the southeastern shore of Lake Washington in Renton, Washington. The hotel features 60,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. The rooms and event space were designed with feng shui principles in mind and feature Lake Washington, Cascade Mountain, Mt. Rainier and Seattle skyline views.
