The Whistler Conference Centre is poised to reveal the results of the $3.5 million renovation that was completed in late 2020. The venue has been revived with what’s described as “a contemporary, sophisticated aesthetic, infused with West Coast character and inspired by Whistler’s majestic natural environment.”  Design elements and technical upgrades were the two key focal points of the renovation project.

Do-it-your-way flexibility rules. As the Centre declares, “With over 40,000 square feet of versatile meeting space we can serve a flavorful locally inspired menu for 1,200, wire a general session for 1,500, drive a car into the ballroom, host a production quality cover band or seamlessly tent and cater a delicious meal. We have all the technology, service know-how and seasoned team to deliver a custom experience for your group.”

Here, according to a Centre spokeswoman, are the highlights of the renovation:

State-of-art Lighting: The Centre’s unique architecture and natural features, including the beautiful wood cathedral ceilings and stone fireplace are highlighted by dimmable LED lights throughout the building. Large-scale custom copper chandelier light fixtures add drama and scale to the Grand Foyer and Ballroom, helping set the perfect ambiance for any event.

Original Local Artwork animates the striking natural beauty of Whistler’s natural landscapes. Artwork by Cori Creed, Pat O’Hara, Chili Thom and Andy Anissimoff, depict BC wilderness, adding excitement and a West Coast feeling to the building.

Retractable Blinds in the Sea to Sky Ballroom allow you to control the natural light during your event, increase your attendees’ moods and help them stay engaged.

Heightened sound quality, with the new acoustic panels absorbing any echo in the Sea to Sky Ballroom. With reduced sound transmission to surrounding rooms, you and your group will avoid any distractions or background noise while digging into your next meeting.

Premium finishes, such as custom maple meeting room doors, complete with RFID locks, cap off the Centre’s elevated experience.

Our built-in registration area has lockable cabinetry for meeting planners to secure their coats and valuables. Projectors above registration can be used to keep attendees informed, as a Twitter wall or a logo space; the sky’s the limit on what can be displayed.

The Grand Foyer’s 40-Foot 3-Sided Wood Burning Rumford Rock Fireplace creates a strong sense of arrival and focal point for the Centre and works with natural light from the skylights to create a relaxed and welcoming ambiance.

The 250-seat Rainbow Theatre boasts raised, built-in staging and the latest in theater lighting, audio and digital video technology.
